Types of webbing slings
(1) Classification by material
Polyester round slings: They have high tensile strength and wear resistance, and are suitable for various lifting operations. It is further divided into flat webbing slings, flexible webbing slings, etc. Polyester round slings can resist most inorganic acids but are not resistant to alkali. They perform well in special circumstances such as high-temperature environments and UV-resistant environments. They are suitable for high-intensity lifting operations such as the installation and dismantling of large steel structures, shipbuilding and maintenance, and the installation and maintenance of wind power equipment.
Nylon webbing slings: Made of nylon fibers, they feature high strength and wear resistance, and are a common type of webbing sling in the market. It is resistant to alkali but vulnerable to erosion by inorganic acids. In addition, it has good high-temperature resistance and anti-aging performance, with good elasticity, capable of absorbing impact forces and reducing damage to objects. It is suitable for most conventional lifting operations, such as steel structure installation and dismantling, shipbuilding and maintenance, wind power equipment installation and maintenance, etc. It can also be used in some corrosive environments.
Polypropylene webbing slings That is the common white webbing sling, made of polypropylene fiber, has a relatively low density and good chemical resistance, and is almost not eroded by acids and alkalis (except in cases where chemical solvents are needed). It is suitable for use in environments with strong chemical corrosion, but its tensile strength and bending strength are relatively low. It is suitable for light lifting operations, such as the installation and dismantling of small steel structures, construction projects, etc. It is also applicable to occasions with high requirements for chemical resistance.
(2) Classification by appearance and structure
Flat webbing slings
Material and manufacturing: Industrial high-strength filaments are woven and dyed into industrial webbing, and industrial webbing is industrial sewn into flat webbing slings. Its width is available in various specifications, such as 15mm, 30mm, 50mm, 60mm, 75mm, 90mm, 100mm, 120mm, 150mm, 180mm, 240mm, 300mm, etc. The width of the lifting lugs is also diverse, including 30mm, 50mm, 60mm, 70mm, 80mm, 100mm, etc.
Features and application scenarios: Lightweight and soft, it can be used in confined Spaces. The ring-eye sheath is sturdy and durable. During hoisting operations, it can provide a wide and smooth load-bearing surface as well as a variety of hoisting methods. The load capacity range of the colored flat webbing sling is 1 to 50 tons, and its length is 1 to 100 meters. It is sewn from multiple or single layers of polyester woven straps and has a relatively high safety factor. It is more suitable for situations where the lifting operation requirements are not very high, such as the lifting of production components in workshops and steel plates and steel materials.
Flexible webbing slings
Material and structure: It is wound with multiple load-bearing cores and made of double A-grade polyester filament. It consists of A load-bearing core and a non-load-bearing sleeve, and can be equipped with an anti-wear and anti-cut-off protective sleeve.
Features and application scenarios: It has good overall performance, a high safety factor, a load range of 1 to 3000 tons, a length of 1 to 100 meters, and a safety factor of 6 or 7 times. It is highly suitable for environments with high requirements for hoisting operations, such as ports, Bridges, industrial equipment, precision instruments, etc. Additionally, due to its relatively soft nature, it can flexibly adopt various hoisting methods for hoisting.
Circular webbing slings: Composed of a closed load-bearing core made up of infinitely wound and equally arranged wire bundles, they are twisted with a single strand of wire, and the number of wires in one row can reach over 100,000 turns, serving the load-bearing function. Circular webbing slings are all round without any ring eyes. The outer layer is made of specially designed double-layer wear-resistant sleeves that are joined into a ring shape. The outer sleeve does not bear weight but only protects the parallel arranged wire bundles. When there is severe overloading or local damage to the bearing core due to long-term use, its outer jacket will break first as a warning to prevent accidents.
